Rainbow Trout fishing on Parry Island, Ontario

Perry Island Rainbows

Date: May 10, 2016
Temperature: -2°C in the morning and 18°C at noon
Water depth: 12-18ft
Location: Parry Island
Bait used: trout dough (on Amazon Canada or Amazon US), power eggs (on Amazon Canada or Amazon US)

I arrived at the location at around 6:30am and was greeted by the puppies as seen in the video and while playing with them I missed the first bite.  The fish were taking chum pellets from the surface but the bites were sporadic and the fish didn’t want to take bait.

I tried using different color silicone eggs at first because the first bite was on an orange one.  Then, I put floating pellets on hook and let it float but that still didn’t work.  After trying pellets I switched to orange and then pink trout dough and I succeeded with the pink, which landed me my first rainbow at around 10am.

My neighbors were using Trout Nuggets and were also successful at landing fish.  My second fish also took the pink trout dough later in the day around 1pm after rotating the baits to see if they take anything else.
